Attend "Mengajar Gaya Motivator" Session
Pandemic has brought a lot of consequences, in all aspects of life. Education sector is included. All parties involved in this activity are impacted. Teachers, students, parents-they need to adapt to the situation regardless of any struggles and challenges that they may face. Any possible efforts are needed to make, to make sure that the learning process keeps going.
One of the most obvious change is the mode of learning. It has switched from offline in the classroom to online via various meeting platforms-zoom, microsoft teams, etc. Direct classroom interaction is replaced by screen interaction. Then, considering the drawbacks of screen-time, such a meeting is limited to a certain period of time per day, to assure that students and teachers' (and/or parents when needed) health are not too much affected.
Considering this situation, The Academic Division of Al Azhar Yogyakarta carried out a workshop on how to be a teacher that students miss. The speaker stated that we need to keep trying to find out what students needs and wants to achieve our teaching and learning goals.
Long story short, a peer teacher of mine stated that the speaker's way of motivating was just so so. He thinks that he did not get so much from attending the workshop. Blown by his statement, I agree with him. Though we can learn from any type of person of anything, what he delivered did not seem to be very significant for us to address our specific challenges.
